3RD UPDATE: Rite-Aid, 4/17-4/23

There were so many deals this week that I had a really hard time keeping track of all of my coupons.  I woke up early on Sunday and organized the coupons that I had clipped the night before.  The stack was quite large which always makes me feel a little apprehensive since I know that I will have to break up some of my transactions and this is difficult to do when you have limited time to shop.  I left the house a little later than usual and was only able to get some of the deals this week.  I opted to purchase the items that I thought might go out of stock.  I plan to go back sometime this week to purchase the haircolor and shampoo items that I had on my list as they usually don't stock out of these items that quickly.

Hope you all had a great shop this week.  It was a fun week at Rite-Aid for cleaning products, body wash and make-up and hair products.

UPDATE: Headed out again today to get the rest of the stuff that was on my list.  Did four more transactions and received four more surveys (yeah)!!  I now have five $3/15 Rite-Aid Q's to use next week on my shop.  Should be a good week.  Leave a comment if you found another great deal this week that you want to share with me and the other folks that read this blog.  Thanks!

3RD UPDATE: Went to Costco tonight and ran into the store on Auburn to pick up some free Lysol wipes (left several in stock for you gals that shop there....wink).  Had a difficult transaction with the cashier.  They laid out all of my items and then laid out each coupon to match up with each item and the transaction literally took about 25 minutes.  I complained to the manager and explained to him that my husband and children were waiting for me in the car and that I wouldn't be able to shop at this Rite-Aid anymore if the transactions were going to continue in this manner.  He told me that corporate had sent them a memo indicating that their coupons were not being redeemed by the manufacturer.  I will need to contact corporate as this is the 3rd time that I have heard this remark this week.  We'll see what happens.

NOTE: all of the above deals are tracking so feel free to just purchase what is in stock and then go to another store and purchase the rest.  The system will track how much you've spent so long as you use the same wellness card for each transaction.

NOTE: I managed to roll my UP Rewards again and then used my gift card to pay the remaining balance of about $15.  I always cash the Rite-Aid rebate checks that I receive in the mail and then I purchase a Rite-Aid gift card so that I can keep rolling all of my costs; that is how I pay nothing out of pocket.  :)

NOTE: The Ester-C was finally back in stock so I threw it into my transaction as a moneymaker so that I could purchase some candy for Easter.

NOTE: Kelley, Irmie, and Jerilyn....I would highly recommend that you find a different Rite-Aid to go to if you are shopping at the Auburn store.  Looks as though this store is changing it's coupon policy.  They are matching up every item to every coupon which will make your transactions really, really long.  They are also a little hesitant about the use of coupons and are no longer adjusting coupons to match the price of the item even though that is Rite-Aid's policy.  They seem a little nervous towards couponers which is going to mean problems for all of you.  Just an FYI....

  1. I am so stoked about this week. Between the makeup and using the 3/15 great options to be had on the Cleanser Promo. One deal that I did 6 times at 3 stores goes like this-
    Bamboo compact 6.95
    Eyeshadow 3.37(50%)
    2(overpriced) Jet Drys 4.99 Bogo
Used 3/15-(2).55 Jet dry q- (2)5$ PFQ and 1/1 vv pharmacyQ
Total oop was 1.00 (.07tax)each time. Which in the end meant I spent 6.00 oop and earned 3) 5+ ups and a 10+up.

Good times at RiteAid. Hope to do more this week. Can't wait to see the deals you got this week!

  3. Hi Starbucks Girl
I have an extra set of rebate peelies if you have not yet submitted for the PF make-up.
They are 6.95 Bamboo Compact Wear
    9.95 Organic Wear Jumbo Lash
    10.95 Mineral Wear Correcting Primer
    10.95 Eye Booster

If interested you can email me at christastealcoat@yahoo.com
I will check back here since I rarely use this email.

I sure hope that the rebates work out since I only paid tax oop. Fingers crossed.

  4. Hey Christa. How's it goin? Thanks for all of the information. I went to the Physician Formula website and don't see the rebate form for the Bamboo Compact wear. Is that item on rebate? I have some of the "try me free" peelies but don't have one for the bamboo compact wear.

Great week at Rite-Aid! Super confusing math for me though because of my 20% discount. Still, a very fun week.

  5. BTW, the language on the try me free coupon says one rebate per household. Just an FYI in case you were submitting several for one address. Rebate form also says that they will reimburse you for the purchase price (not including tax). I wonder if this means before coupons or after coupons. Hmmmmm.

  6. Hi there Starbucks girl.
I just checked out the rebates online and you were correct my compact peelies are expired. :(
I did notice the wording on the rebate instructs you to circle the purchase price, so hopefully I will get full reimbursement.

That situation you had at the one store is concerning for sure. The last thing we want is for RA not getting reimbursed for their coupons. I know the company struggles as it is. Hopefully its just a DM getting moody about all the coupons that go through their stores. I wouldn't put it past some managers making up stories just so they can get tougher on the customers using coupons.

  7. Christa, thanks for the follow-up on the Physician's Formula rebate.

All of the stores in my area have received the same memo regarding the use of coupons. I'm not entirely sure what it says but hope to get a copy of it soon to read it. I think that they are going to limit the use of more than one Video Value coupon on most transactions. The store that I was at last night was just confused about coupons in general. I had a long chat with the Assitant Manager and although he was a super nice and reasonable guy it was clear to me that he doesn't understand how coupon redemption works.

I talked to him about why Rite-Aid might be sending out these memos and told him how many people I had brought to his store through training them to coupon at Rite-Aid. I told him that we might have to start shopping somewhere else if redeeming coupons becomes too much of a hassle at Rite-Aid (i.e. laying out every coupon to match it up to each item). Some of my transactions are really large and this would take a very long time. I also told him that it was a real balancing act....keeping the couponers happy and ensuring that they get reimbursed. Rite-Aid has to weigh their business decisions in accordance with the amount of market share that they desire to obtain. For example, there might be some folks that use coupons wrong or are abusing couponing, however, when they treat all of their couponers as if they are abusing the policies then the couponers all leave and start shopping somewhere else. It's a fine line.

More couponers = higher market share and more store sales

Less couponers = possibly better coupon redemption but fewer people shopping at their stores.

Anyway, I could talk your ear off about this subject. I always think that it is better for a store to be more lenient on their policies as they will encourage higher sales. The little money that they are losing in coupon redemption will be made up with a higher profit in general from the volume of people that are in their stores.

    Just my opinion though...

  10. I have had numerous difficult experiences at the Auburn store, including being berated for getting an item for almost free. The manager even yelled at a customer in front of a small crowd once saying "I wish you couponers wouldn't come here!" So I try to avoid this location if at all possible. The Rite Aid on Sunrise at Madison is much more friendly. - Sarah W.

  11. Sarah. I really hope that you when folks are treated that way by the staff at this store that they call corporate or send an email to corporate. The only way that things will change at that store is if corporate is aware of the problem. Corporate would be very upset to find out that someone was treated that way at a Rite-Aid store. I plan on contacting corporate about my experience there. I'll post what happens after I contact them. :) Thanks for the info. Sarah. I really appreciate it.
